## School Types (typy škol)

Filter parameter values → display names:
- `materska` → Mateřská škola (MŠ) — Kindergarten / Preschool (ages 3–6)
- `zakladni` → Základní škola (ZŠ) — Elementary + Lower secondary (ages 6–15)
- `stredni` → Střední škola (SŠ) — Upper secondary (ages 15–19), includes gymnázium, SOŠ, SOU

## School Categories

Categories are assigned from multiple sources:

**Name-detected** (from school name):
- waldorfská — Waldorf pedagogy
- montessori — Montessori pedagogy
- scioškola — ScioŠkola network

**Type-detected** (from the school registry's special-education location types):
- speciální — Schools for students with special educational needs (§ 16 Education Act)

**AI-detected** (from inspection report analysis):
- tradiční — Traditional teaching approach
- moderní — Modern / innovative approach
- alternativní — Alternative pedagogy (not Waldorf/Montessori)
- jiná — Other / unclassifiable

## Rating Rubric (1–4 scale)

Schools are rated in four areas, each on a 1–4 scale:

2. **Vedení školy** (School leadership) — management quality, strategic planning, self-evaluation
3. **Školní klima** (School climate) — safety, relationships, well-being, inclusion

### Scale
- 1 = S výhradami (With reservations) — significant issues found
- 2 = Standardní (Standard) — meets basic expectations
- 3 = Pozitivní zjištění (Positive findings) — above average
- 4 = Velmi pozitivní zjištění (Very positive findings) — excellent

### Overall Score
The `overall_score` is the average of all four areas (1.0–4.0).

### Schools without published ratings
Scio operates jakouskolu.cz and is also the founder of the ScioŠkola schools (category
`scioškola`). Because of this conflict of interest no rating of such a school is
published: its scores are `null` in the API and left out of the markdown. The texts of
its analysis are published as for any other school. Such a school stays in the results
of every rating filter, without a score and whether or not it has an analysis, so a
filter says nothing about its rating. Any other school without a rating is in none.

## Identifiers

- **IZO** (9-digit, starts with 0/1/2): Primary key for each school facility. Each analysis targets one IZO.
- **RED_IZO** (9-digit, starts with 6/7): Organization identifier. One RED_IZO can group multiple IZOs (e.g., a ZŠ and MŠ run by the same organization).
- **IČO** (8-digit): Business registration number.

Interactive tool to find the assigned (spádová) school for a Czech address. Works for ZŠ and MŠ.
The lookup is a POST so a home address never lands in a URL or a shared link.

## Location-Aware Search

Add `lat` and `lng` query parameters to `/schools` to enable:
- Distance calculation from the given coordinates
- `sort=distance` ordering
- `sort=travel` ordering by the travel time each card shows (the faster of the
  walk, shown up to 30 minutes, and the public transport estimate, shown beyond a
  10-minute walk; unknown last)
- `max_distance=N` filtering (in km)
- The nearest public transport stop for each school
- `max_transit=N` (15, 30, 45 or 60): keep only schools whose travel time, as
  each card shows it, is at most N minutes: the faster of the walk (shown up to
  30 minutes) and the public transport estimate (shown beyond a 10-minute walk),
  rounded to 5 minutes and arriving before the school day starts (07:50 by
  default). Ignored without coordinates. The filter is
  one-sided: a school missing from it may still have a connection.

Travel times come from timetable routing (MOTIS). The list shows public
transport as an estimate rounded to 5 minutes ("MHD ≈ N min"), and a school
within about a 30-minute walk as the walk only; the school detail shows a
documented itinerary for the next school day.
